Little Ms. Good Deal Finder (GDF for short) does it again! I thought my wife was an expert at finding good deals on craigslist, but this is a first for her. Have any of you ever heard of the app called Nextdoor? If not, I’ll explain more about that later. But first, lets talk about this current steal of a deal she found.
She was perusing this Nextdoor app like she typically does, and somebody posted a listing for free pavers. We see these listings all the time on Craigslist, but they are usually snatched up pretty quick. I’m assuming because contractors jump at the chance for free material to use.
Now when I say free pavers I mean she hit a goldmine of pavers. I say goldmine, but I am also frugal, so that’s kind of like saying she found 100 ketchup packets I can use to fill my empty ketchup bottle in the fridge. Not really. I joke to wife about that all the time, but we aren’t quite that bad….Yet.
In the picture on the app there appeared to be approximately 300 to 400 pavers, but turns out there were much more than we expected. Even before I knew the true quantity I was excited about these pavers, and I already started planning out where I was going to use them in the yard. However, when we arrived to load the material we discovered there were more than double the pavers than we expected. Much, much more than we expected.
The lot included 1040 holland pavers in total. If you aren’t familiar with holland pavers they are 4 in. x 8 in. concrete overlay pavers. Overlay meaning that they connect together easily and concrete meaning…well, concrete. Come on! jk! I don’t really care what name they were given, I call them a “GREAT F’n DEAL”
If I was to buy them at a home store in my area they would cost somewhere around $.50 each. What does this mean? It means that we basically got over $500 worth of pavers for a big wapping ZERO dollars. So like I said at the beginning, “Little Ms. GDF strikes again.”
Oh yeah, about that Nextdoor app. My wife loves this app. I helps meet and communicate with neighbors in your direct and connecting neighborhoods. They discuss everything from lost pets, local politics and good restaurants nearby as well as recent crime in the area. Lets no forget that some people even post things they are giving away like PAVERS….YES!!! You should check it out.
Happy hunting! #LIVELIFEOUTSIDE
